Children's Room

Children's Literacy Programs:

The Children’s Room offers regular literacy programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as special program throughout the year such as our summer reading challenge, nature and science programs and book events. Our regular school year programs engage our youngest museum patrons through stories, songs, games, and crafts. For toddlers our story hour promotes speech and listening skills though repetition and fun challenges. Our preschool program assists in the development of early social and behavioral skills essential for schooling. And our programs for babies stimulate language development and increase their capacity for learning. For an up to date schedule of our weekly and special programs, See below

Interested in Anime? Already a fan or curious to know what it's all about? Join us for old and new favorites, plus snacks and socializing.

6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
A Pokemon League provides a nearby place for you to get together with other fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and have some fun. Using your own cards you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokemon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do. Deering Room, Dyer Library.

Join singer, musician and storyteller Jennifer Armstrong as she celebrates the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon! Listen to moon-themed songs and stories told on the banjo, fiddle, bagpipes and more!

Every Friday is STEM Friday at the Dyer Library this summer! Check the schedule at the Children's Room for our various science and technology programs presented by Aim High AmeriCorps members. Experiment with slime, learn about rockets, or build the perfect paper airplane! For ages 8 and up.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Learn about space and gravity. How high can you jump on the moon? Join the Lunar Olympics and find out! For children in grades K through 5.

A mobile planetarium will be setup in the Deering Room as part of our STEM Fridays program! Learn about "Star Stories," the myths and legends that surround our night sky. Discover how the constellations got their names like the Great Bear, Orion, and Andromeda!
