Children's Literacy Programs:

The Children’s Room offers regular literacy programs for babies, toddlers and preschoolers, as well as special program throughout the year such as our summer reading challenge, nature and science programs and book events. Our regular school year programs engage our youngest museum patrons through stories, songs, games, and crafts. For toddlers our story hour promotes speech and listening skills though repetition and fun challenges. Our preschool program assists in the development of early social and behavioral skills essential for schooling. Cornerstone Science trunk program, Get a Clue! Solve a crime as you explore the science behind criminal investigations. Hands-on activities include learning investigative techniques like fingerprinting, and the basics of forensic science. Children's Room

Join us on Wednesdays for after school "lounge", where tweens and teens can be themselves. A safe and fun space for homework, socializing and/or participating in various group activities. Drop in for ten minutes for stay for an hour.

Pokemon League

The Pokemon League meets Thursday evenings from 6:30pm-7:30pm in the Deering Room. League follows school schedule, if there is no school due to vacation or a snow day the Pokemon League will not meet.

A Pokemon League provides a nearby place for you to get together with other fans of the Pokemon Trading Card Game and have some fun. Using your own cards you can play, trade, and even earn cool prizes! The best part is that you can do all this with other Pokemon players who love collecting and playing just as much as you do.

LEGO CLUB

This special program for kids 18 months to three years old includes finger plays, songs, sign language, movement and stories with social time for parents and play time for children afterwards. LITTLE WIGGLER BOOKS AND BABIES

We welcome our very youngest library patrons (up to 18 months) every Friday morning for baby bounces, songs, and stories in the Deering Room, with social and play time afterwards. PAJAMA STORY TIME
March 1st 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

We are teaming up with teachers from Fairfield and Young school to celebrate Read Across America with a pajama story time in the Dyer Library Children's Room and Deering room! Saco educators will be reading their favorite stories to you and your youngsters to mark the birthday of the ever popular children's author, the late Dr. Seuss. Children may wear pajamas and bring their favorite stuffed toy, blanket, or pillow.
